Camping : Camping Verébleu. I wouldn't be surprised if we went back for a third visit next year!What a fantastic campsite!! Having said that, there were some lovely restaurants dotted around that were worth a visit and the island itself (including restaurants, cycle paths) wasn't as busy as Ile de Ré.We returned to this campsite for a second visit this year after finding it very welcoming the previous August and loved it as much as our last holiday! The entertainment is pretty loud, but isn't that the same in 90% of French Campsites with evening entertainment.
We were aware that the site is 98% French according to other reviews and thats exactly what we wanted - we want to experience France and not just go where everyone speaks English. The cycle paths were easily found using the map given to us by the campsite.

The staff are also without exception friendly and welcoming, at reception, the snack, and poolside.
We all felt very welcome and even though my French isn't extensive that wasn't a problem and on the contrary the staff and other campers were very welcoming and seemed secretly pleased I was tring to talk their language whilst in their country. Charente-Maritime ... one night 5 people rental.

The staff work very hard to keep the toilet facilities exceptionally clean and tidy, maintain a lovely environment in the pool area and parks, and keep the site looking beautiful with lots of flowers and plants. The Kids clubs and entertainment are in French, but hey, you're in France so I think thats right!
The swimming pool area is relatively small but kept us and the kids fully entertained and the night swimming at 9.30pm until 10.30pm on selected night was absolutely fantastic although did make for very late bedtimes.
Own or manage this property? My only disappointment was that they didn't have a water supply to each plot or facility for disposing of waste water - all had to be done away from the plot. The towns were quieter and not as geared up for tourists. The campsite did not disappoint.
